Exotic Birds

I saw the Birds play exactly once: at the Phantasy opening for Book of Love.  I didn't know who the hell they were, except they had hair like Flock of Seagulls (I was new to the scene back then) and they seemed to have as large of a following as BoL.

I "knew" Trent when he was working at Pi Keyboards (pulled that name out of my ass) over on Brookpark.  Pi was the leading electronic music store in the area during the hey-day of the New Wave craze.  I used to LOVE that place; I hung out there and spent way more money than I needed to on crap I barely used.  Trent was a salesperson/musician there and sold me some of my gear.  Later, at a Lestat concert he claimed to remember me.  Thanks for pretending Trent!

About the Birds Andrew Freidman writes:

That was Trent's first band.  Their 'big' hit was 'Syran Wrap', and all the girls would bring syran wrap to the shows and wrap themselves when he played that song.  I actually - oddly - talked about that tonight with DJ Kid Koala and his posse who played Seattle tonight.  How odd.
