The Detroiter
The Detroiter was a semi-seedy family-owned restaraunt on Detroit Avenue in the late 80s. They servered your average fare of lilted salads and over-cooked soup. But that place was open late and was a godsend for those of us leaving the Nine at 3am in the morning looking for a bite.
That area of Lakewood included the Vienna, The Phantasy Night Club, The Chamber, and farther down Chain Link Addiction, an alternative clothing store that's still there.
The Detroiter was torn down long ago. A Walgreens has risen from its ashes (that's what Walgreens do, to do battle against the evil known as CVS). Some of the staff there moved across the street to the Vienna, which is now My Friends. Linda was still working there last I knew...
